What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Guests praise Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain for its beautiful, serene setting and the deeply relaxing thermal journey. The natural environment and the spa's commitment to a quiet atmosphere are frequently highlighted as major positives. However, some visitors have expressed disappointment with the massage experience, citing issues with pressure, technique, and post-treatment care, while others found the steam room could be improved.
"I recently visited Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain, and it was an absolutely amazing experience. The location is stunning — surrounded by forest and nature, creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.
The hot baths, saunas, and cold plunge pools are incredible. The contrast between hot and cold really helps your body unwind and recharge. The facilities are spotless, the staff is friendly, and everything is organized perfectly for relaxation.
My favorite part was just sitting quietly by the water, listening to nature, and feeling completely disconnected from stress.
I highly recommend this spa to anyone who needs a break and wants to feel refreshed, calm, and renewed. Definitely worth the visit — one of the best spa experiences I’ve ever had!"

"This place.
...THIS PLACE!
We don't really have onsen culture over here in eastern Canada, but THIS PLACE is pretty darn close!
Whole bunch of pools (hot and cold), waterfalls you can stand under in both, many saunas and steam rooms (one so steamy you can't see a foot infront of you), and just an abundance of things to relax on: hammocks, rocking lawn chairs, bean bags, round love seats with a furl down roof, the works.
Also, the "no phones" policy is a nice way to enforce detachment from the digital world, and the "Shut Up Police" are a nice touch too, making sure chatter stays at a minimum (pro tip: if you talk BEHIND the waterfall, they can't get you).
The staff were really nice, especially Bodan at the registration booth. He also has really nice hand writing.
I recomend going for the end-of-day hours, 5-close, 'cause you get to experience the change in lighting, the sun set, the fire pits make more sense, and the mist on the water beyond the boarders.
And if you go in winter and it starts snowing?
...magic!
Its a beutuful relaxing time."

"A disappointing and overcrowded experience as someone who has been visiting this spa for years.
My most recent visit on Saturday, October 25th, 2025, at 6:30 pm was a bit of a letdown. While the staff were friendly and the check-in process was quick, the overall state of the facility felt neglected.
Here are a few things we noted during our visit:
1. The spa felt VERY crowded, a big change from the relaxing atmosphere we've experienced on past weekends.
2. The changing rooms were overflowing with used towels and the locker area was packed. We were shoulder to shoulder with people changing.
3. In the showers, all the dispensers for shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were empty.
4. We were concerned to see an oily film floating on the surface of several of the hot pools.
At $118.65 per person for the Thermal Journey (access to the pools and sauna), we felt that the experience didn't meet the standards we've come to expect.
In the past, this was a genuinely serene experience with a focus on guest comfort, and the facilities were always clean and well-maintained. We're hoping this was just an off night and plan to give it another try during a less busy time. We'd love to be able to leave a better review in the future."

The Art of Hydrotherapy
The spa's design, nestled within a natural forest setting, enhances this experience. The sounds of nature, the fresh air, and the serene environment contribute to a deeply restorative atmosphere. The strict no-phone and no-talking policy further encourages guests to disconnect from the outside world and fully immerse themselves in the present moment, making the hydrotherapy experience more profound.
For those seeking a more guided experience, Scandinave Spa sometimes offers 'Guided Thermal Journeys' that incorporate breathwork and grounding practices alongside the traditional thermal cycling. These sessions aim to deepen the benefits of hydrotherapy and provide a more structured approach to relaxation.
Massage Experiences: What to Expect
However, guest experiences with massages can vary. Some reviews suggest that the massage quality might not always meet expectations, with instances of inconsistent pressure, unexpected use of oils, and a feeling of being rushed. It's advisable to communicate your preferences clearly to your masseuse regarding pressure, areas of focus, and any concerns about oil usage.
It's also worth noting that some guests have reported a less-than-ideal post-massage experience, with facilities being closed down or amenities like water and tea not being readily available. While the spa's primary focus is the thermal journey, clear communication with reception about your needs after a massage can help ensure a more complete and satisfying experience.
The Power of Disconnecting
This policy, while potentially challenging for some initially, is often cited as a key factor in the spa's effectiveness. By removing the distractions of screens and conversations, guests are encouraged to be more present, to notice the subtle sensations of the thermal experience, and to truly relax. The quiet atmosphere allows the natural sounds of the environment – the rustling leaves, the flowing water – to become more prominent, enhancing the overall sense of peace.
While photography is also prohibited to maintain this atmosphere, the spa's natural beauty provides ample visual memories. The focus shifts from capturing moments to experiencing them, leading to a deeper and more lasting sense of rejuvenation.
