Insider Tips

One of my favorites hikes in the blue mountain area (especially during fall) is at pretty river. The hike is decently tough (I sweat the whole time no joke). Definitely need a good pair of hikers or runners for the terrain. We hiked 12kms and only did about half of the trail if that. There’s tons of side trails to explore which makes the terrain SO incredibly interesting! #fyp#hiking#nature#camp...

However, some find trail navigation challenging due to infrequent markers and weak cell service, suggesting improvements are needed for longer hikes.

"This is a very easy walking trail. A gathering area if you would like to do a large family picnic. The suspension bridge in beautiful views. I enjoyed reading the plaques and could just imagine traders canoeing up and down the River not unlike we use roads today"

Bev Wood

"Pretty River Valley Provincial Park - For photographers and those who would feel like that they have seen everything that Ontario has to offer, this is the place for you! During the brightest time of day, it still feels like it is at the break of dawn inside the park covered in trees, and during sunset, the mood of the forest sets you up to reenact many of your horror movies where anybody gets chased down through the woods. It really gives the vibe of "Bambi: The Reckoning""

Taehun Bang

"This was our first hike of the New Year's. We took the switchback trail up the mountain and rejoined to the main trail. The trees were snow covered and looked magical. We hiked for 3 and 1/2 hours, but there are many more trails to explore there."
