What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the beautiful natural setting of Meadows Golf Course, with many highlighting the stunning sunset views over Mt. Bachelor. The course is generally well-maintained and offers a fair challenge for most golfers, complemented by friendly staff and modern GPS carts. However, some long-time patrons note a significant increase in prices due to resort privatization, which has led to a perception of diminished value for money.
"Always love my time spent golfing here. The Deschutes national forest backdrop never fails to delight, I love the twilight hour rounds because I always get to the last two holes as the sun is setting over Mt. Bachelor, the birds and other wildlife become very active and it has a wonderful peacefulness. The course is normally not too difficult, though the rough can be a little unforgiving around when they are hosting tournaments."

"Used to love playing golf in Sunriver. It was a family tradition ever year. Courses are privatized forcing you to stay through the resort.. prices have skyrocketed. Not worth it in my opinion. Will be playing/staying elsewhere. Have found Black Butte to be the place to go now. Really bad decision Sunriver Resort. You have lost a Customer."

Playing Meadows Golf Course: A Golfer's Perspective
For those seeking a more scenic and tranquil experience, playing during the twilight hours is highly recommended. As the sun begins to set, the views over Mt. Bachelor become spectacular, and the surrounding wildlife becomes more active. This peaceful ambiance, combined with potential perks like free club rentals after 5 PM, makes for a memorable end to a round.
However, it's worth noting that the course's affiliation with Sunriver Resort means that pricing can be a factor. Some long-time visitors have observed significant price increases over the years, leading them to explore alternative golfing destinations. Understanding the pricing structure and considering resort packages might be beneficial for budget-conscious travelers.
The Sunriver Resort Experience
While the resort setting provides convenience and amenities, it also influences the accessibility and cost of golfing. As mentioned, some visitors feel that the privatization of the courses has led to a premium pricing strategy. This can be a point of consideration for golfers who are primarily focused on the game and may not be utilizing other resort services.
For those who choose to stay at Sunriver Resort, the convenience of having Meadows Golf Course on-site is a significant advantage. It allows for easy access to tee times and the ability to enjoy the resort's amenities before or after a round. Shuttle services within the resort can also simplify transportation to and from the golf course.
Capturing the Beauty: Photography at Meadows
Many golfers and content creators share their experiences on platforms like TikTok and Instagram, showcasing the course's beauty. Popular subjects include the sweeping fairways, the challenging holes like the par-3 13th, and the vibrant wildlife that inhabits the area. The golden hours, especially sunset, are prime times for capturing dramatic and peaceful shots, as the light softens and casts a warm glow over the landscape.
When planning your photo opportunities, consider the time of day for the best lighting. Early mornings and late afternoons offer softer light and fewer harsh shadows. While smartphones are capable of capturing excellent images, a dedicated camera can offer more control over settings for professional-looking shots. Remember to be respectful of other golfers and the course environment while you're capturing memories.
