What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Prairie Pines Preserve's extensive, well-maintained trails and the peaceful, natural environment. It's praised as a great spot for walking, dog-friendly outings, and photography, with ample shade and opportunities to see wildlife. Some minor drawbacks include occasional traffic noise and the presence of horse droppings on trails.
"One of the largest walkable preserves in the region. Long loop is not for everyone, almost 15 miles long (nice shortcut trails allow you to shorten the distance as needed), trails are clearly marked and in great shape. Rainy season is almost here so it would become greener and muddier. I would add some signs to point at the 2 railroad lines that are now the boundaries of the preserve"

"The trails are incredibly well-maintained and wind through a beautiful landscape of pine flatwoods and open prairie. The flat, wide paths make it an easy hike for all ages and fitness levels, whether you're taking a leisurely stroll, going for a run, or pushing a stroller. The air smells clean and fresh, and the sound of the wind through the pines is incredibly calming. I spent a couple of hours walking the loop and barely saw another soul, which added to the peaceful atmosphere.
Bird watchers will be in their element here, as the diverse habitat attracts a variety of species. It’s also a fantastic spot for photography, with plenty of opportunities to capture the unique Florida flora and the stunning interplay of light and shadow on the trails. The preserve’s commitment to conservation is evident in how pristine the area is."

"Lovely! Other than the paranoid right-wing individual that rudely greeted us, claiming something about homosexuals doing stuff in the park... It was a lovely visit! Highly recommend for a nice nature walk. I just wish one could bicycle it. Watch out for horse poo on the long path!"
