What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Mass MoCA for its unique, large-scale contemporary art installations and the impressive transformation of its historic industrial setting. Many highlight the immersive nature of the exhibits and the family-friendly atmosphere, though some note the museum's sprawling layout can be challenging to navigate. Overall, it's considered a must-visit for art lovers and families alike.
"An amazing museum in the middle of nowhere! The renovation of this museum is spectacular, and we really enjoyed our visit. It’s huge, so we didn’t manage to see everything, but the artworks were beautiful, and some were truly surprising. One of the highlights was being part of a piece: you could leave your wish in a box, and once a week the artist incorporates them into the artwork—so clever! We drove an hour to see this museum, and it turned out to be a wonderful surprise."

"Very unique museum - inside and out! We went in a few hours prior to an evening concert and wished that we had budgeted more time, because we didn't get to see all of the exhibits. Hourly guided tours are available if you're looking for a more in depth look at some of the art showcased there. I highly recommend a visit if you have the opportunity!"

"I'm not into some modern art, but I feel like Mass MoCA does a really good job curating a wide variety of things, and they have a beautiful space to display them that really highlights them. I enjoy creative 3D or immersive art and this place is perfect for displaying it. They also change out exhibits so I saw almost entirely new things. I will say the museum is sometimes difficult to navigate due to the floor layout, but if you ask for help, all of the employees are very helpful. The ones who have learned in depth about the areas they are covering and give you very good insights on the meanings of the works are great. It makes me appreciate and understand the pieces so much more. Not to mention the booklets that go with that go with the bigger exhibits, they're fun to collect and you can learn more about the artists. Other plus I like that there is free and easy parking and the entry fee is very reasonable."
