What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Shipley-Magee House for its beautiful, well-maintained rose garden and peaceful atmosphere, making it a lovely spot for relaxation and picnics. However, some reviews mention concerns about homeless individuals present in the park and occasional littering, which can detract from the overall experience.
"I stumbled upon this park accidentally, and I'm so glad I did! This park is so cute, beautiful, and well kept. The landscapers were there on a Friday afternoon, working on the rose garden. The grass is green and trimmed, there are beautiful old trees and flowers, event halls, and pretty clean restrooms. The entire park is wheelchair accessible with wheelchair accessible bathrooms. This is a cute place to relax, but definitely be aware that there are homeless folks who sleep here, and one of them (in the back of the park) was yelling to herself."
Alex
"Nice park. Mostly quiet. I'm 37 and would come here on occasion to run (from here to along the beach) since I was about 16. It's relaxing after a run. The occasional homeless hang out here and the City of Carlsbad has done decent keeping it them to a minimum. There is a time capsule here that will be opened July 4th 2076"
Christopher Hazlett
"Beautiful. But had several homeless people stumbling around and doing something I shouldn't mention, in the bathroom."
