Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the magnificent panoramic views from Fan Hir, describing the ridge walk as spectacular and rewarding. The opportunity for breathtaking sunrise and sunset cloud inversions is a major draw. While the hike is challenging, the well-defined paths and stunning scenery make it a highly recommended experience in the Brecon Beacons.

"If you start your route from the Tafarn y Garreg, you’ll be climbing from about 200 metres up to 800 metres.

I would suggest that you follow the path northwards parallel to the the hill. When you get to the lake after about 4kms hike, you will already be at 600 metres.

From here, swing to the left of the lake and ascend the scarp on a well made path. Cresting on the scarp edge leaves you with a short ramp up to the summit.

From here the panoramic view really opens up, you will want to dawdle on your long promenade back south, because this is really spectacular.

Allow four hours. Easy navigation."
