Reviews Summary

Draycote Water is praised for its beautiful scenery, ideal for walking and cycling with a mostly flat 5-mile circuit. Birdwatching opportunities are excellent, and the cafe provides good refreshments. However, significant dog restrictions and parking fees are notable drawbacks for some visitors.

"NOT DOG FRIENDLY. Arrived in the car park looking forward to a pleasant dog walk around the reservoir. Parking price seemed very high but we were willing to pay to enjoy the weather and location. Sadly we're we're 'welcomed' with walking routes that all stated 'no dogs' othe than a small 'country park' area away from the reservoir. Dogs were definitely NOT welcome (even on short leads) anywhere near the water. £3.50 to park (as we were there longer than 15 minutes) for a short dog walk. Views were good and other walks might be nice if you dont want to take your furry family, but we won't be visiting again."

"Such a beautiful place for waking and cycling. My favourite place to cycle from Coventry. Enjoying full round cycle now after it has been closed for full run around the drycote due to work on the bridge. There a very nice restaurant/coffee by the sailing club and the car park. With such lovely super friendly staff."

"Went to watch the bucket moon rise, but discovered that the gates are locked early evening and there's no alternative parking. Disaster!!!! Risked parking where we shouldn't but no time to find an alternative to view a rare and spectacular moonrise.
Never visited Draycote Water before. It looks like it's a great 5 mile walk. Plenty of regrets and herons.
Amazing sunset over the lake. The moon was worth the parking inconvenience."

Understanding Dog Restrictions

A significant point of consideration for visitors with canine companions is the strict dog policy at Draycote Water. Unlike many natural attractions, most of the walking routes around the reservoir explicitly state 'no dogs.' This policy extends even to dogs on short leads, creating a barrier for those hoping to enjoy a walk with their pets by the water's edge.Reddit

There is a small, designated 'country park' area where dogs are permitted, but this is a limited space and does not encompass the main reservoir trails. This restriction has led to disappointment for some visitors who arrived expecting a dog-friendly environment. It's crucial for dog owners to be aware of these limitations before their visit to avoid any frustration and to manage expectations regarding where their pets can explore.Reddit
