Reviews Summary

Visitors appreciate the Ketagalan Culture Center for its free admission and its role in preserving and showcasing Taiwan's indigenous heritage. Many find the displays of traditional costumes and contemporary art insightful. However, some reviewers note a lack of English translations for many exhibits, which can limit understanding for non-Mandarin speakers.

"A dominant culture owes a great deal to subordinated peoples by allowing for places like the Ketagalan Culture Center to flourish. In an ever homogenized and connected world it’s all the more important to maintain the individual and unique histories of indigenous peoples. I had a wonderful time and learned a lot!"

"I was really looking forward to visit this place and learn more about the indigenous people of the area but honestly there weren’t many things to see in here. Idk if they changed the exhibits recently or I might have missed a few exhibition areas but I didn’t see many traditional costumes on display. The exhibits in the basement didn’t have any English translation at all. Hope they can improve on that. This place has a lot of potential but I understand they may not have the funds for it since it’s free for all. With that being said, I would still recommend to drop by this place if you’re around the area.

Btw, the staffs are all so nice and welcoming :)"

"I love museums about indigenous cultures and try to visit one in every country I go to. This one was really disappointing. The first exhibition is a little display in the lobby, which has no English translation at all. The second has about 10 pieces of clothing on display with a few words in English but only folk stories about what they believed in. No information about what the different indigenous groups are, where they are located etc. The museum is free but I'd rather pay a fee and learn something."
