What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Tsendze Rustic Camp is highly recommended for its serene, isolated, and off-grid camping experience. Visitors love the tranquility, abundant birdlife, and friendly staff who enhance the stay. However, some find the ablution facilities dated and the water pressure inconsistent. The lack of electricity and unstable signal are part of its rustic charm, but require preparation.
"Very nice and isolated off-grid campsite away from any major camps.
(About a 20-25min drive from Mapani)
Staff is very friendly, and the camps are well maintained.
Lots of bird wildlife, under, and amongst the trees. Nicely shaded in areas, and places where you can walk around.
However, the bathrooms need a makeover. Pressure in the showers not sustainable. Jumps between hot and cold without warning. The bathrooms are quite dark in the day and night, even with the lights on.
Also, signal is unstable if you need it. Sometimes you hear a car or two drive past. However, you can zone it out.
However, highly recommend it due to it’s location, and its staff. Recommend staying at least 3-4 nights there. 👍"

"This is a fantastic camping spot. It is off grid so there's no electricity at the campsites. The ablutions have solar lights and gas geysers. Very clean. 3 species of owls were spotted during our visit. These include Barn owls, White spotted owls and Scops owls. Rogerh the camp manager makes his rounds during the day and moves your solar pannels to ensure maximim sun exposure while you are out game viewing. He also does his rounds every evening ensuring that everything at your camp is in order. Ask him to show you the owls nesting near your campsite. The camp has large trees that provide ample shade. Once you have camped here you imminently start planning your return tril"

"You have to book in at Mopani. The staff were not very friendly or helpful. You get allocated a camp site and according to the person at reception you can't change it. We were allocated one of the less desirable sites and told we couldn't change. Yet last night walking around the camp there were at least 5 sites open. After enquiry today we were told that if you want to request a particular site, you need to send an email to Mopani.
Tsendze camp itself is lovely and quiet and the staff there are very friendly. The ablutions and kitchen area are spotless. The caretaker is more than willing to show you all the little owlets who roast in the trees there during the day. All in all a great camping experience."
