Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the stunning natural beauty of Pokljuka Plateau, from its dramatic gorges and picturesque mountain pastures to breathtaking views of Mt. Triglav. The winter wonderland aspect is also a major draw. However, some find navigation and parking confusing, and phone reception is consistently poor.

"We took the anti-clockwise loop, starting with a gradual ascent on mostly dirt road (about 380+m elevation gain), and ending with the spectacular descent through the gorge formation. The loop is about 7km long and was easy to moderate.

You can straight for the gorge by taking path on the left of the map board at the entrance, follow by a small loop back to the start point."

Terence Ng

"Did the hike storting from parking place at Gostilna Zatrnik-Pr.Jagru. than you have to walk side the road and go to a path on the left side. If you follow that path you reach the first cave. Verry nice view 🤩🏞. Than we followed the wood path at the mountain wall and the stair. The walk is not marked verry well but i had a GPS watch with hiking tracks. No or verry low telephone reception, so navigation with the Phone in not easy. But a nice hike 7,41km, 407elevation, 2u30 duration."

Peter De Wulf

"1) Moderate to strenuous hike on rocky trail; wear closed shoes (sandals do not suffice) and take mosquito repellent with you 2) carry at least 0.5 litres of water per person 3) study trail before you go or use an app such as Kimoot because you can get lost easily - short or long trail - took us about 3 hours to complete 4) never go off trail because there are steep cliffs with 150 meter drops you don’t see immediately. 5) Parking. There are at least two major parking spots so remember the name of the parking spot where you parked. Do not follow pin in Google maps that guides you to the little pink/salmon coloured chapel. The two small roads do not go to the correct location. Use the following coordinates instead - there is limited off road parking - do not drive past the do not enter with cars sign to avoid being fined. (copy and paste into Google maps for the off road parking spot - last picture is where you want to park). 93F3+W64 Zgornje Gorje, Slovenia"
