What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Praia do Castelo is a charming, less crowded beach praised for its golden sand, clear waters, and unique castle-like rock formations. Visitors appreciate the convenient beach bar/restaurant and the availability of watersports. Some note that the cliffs can trap heat on very hot days, and access involves stairs.
"Wonderful small beach with a nice restaurant and also a massage on the beach. Kanu and other watersports available. Not crowded and a very clean and tidy place. Nice and clean water with 19 degrees in the late summer."
Pat Hermann
"A small but charming beach that’s not overcrowded, which we really appreciated. Access is fairly easy if you’re fit – there are a few stairs and a slight incline, so it might be a bit tricky for elderly visitors who aren’t steady on their feet. But for younger people or anyone in good shape, it’s no problem at all.
There’s also a small beach bar/restaurant where you can grab drinks, ice cream, or even have lunch, which is a nice bonus.
We had a really lovely day here. The only downside is that the rock formations surrounding the beach create a sort of natural tunnel, which blocks a lot of the breeze. On very hot days, the heat can build up and feel a bit intense.
Overall, a great spot for a relaxed beach day."

"What a delightful little beach. Not as hectic as some of the big ones (a good thing). The sand is a little course, but the views are wonderful, the water has good well marked swimming, and the little restaurant does great seafood, and pretty marvellous cocktails."
