When I came, it was 60% of blooming but pretty. Unfortunately, I can’t stay longer to enjoy the lit up setting at night due to very cold day. 🥶🤣
But I suggest you to come around 3pm, to enjoy sunset as well and the lit up at night."

The Magic of Plum Blossoms (Ume)

Unlike the more famous cherry blossoms (sakura), ume typically bloom earlier, signaling the end of winter and the arrival of spring. The garden boasts over 370 plum trees representing more than 30 different varieties, showcasing a beautiful spectrum of white, pink, and deep red blossoms. The air during peak season is often perfumed with a sweet, delicate fragrance, creating a truly sensory experience. Instagram+1

Many visitors find the plum blossom season to be a more intimate experience than cherry blossom season, as the crowds can be slightly smaller, especially if you visit on a weekday. The visual impact of the blossoms against the garden's landscape, and sometimes even with the backdrop of Tokyo's cityscape, is breathtaking. It's a perfect opportunity to appreciate the subtle beauty of Japanese flora and the changing seasons. InstagramReddit

To make the most of your visit, it's crucial to monitor the garden's bloom status. They often provide daily updates on their website regarding the percentage of blossoms that are open. This allows you to plan your visit for the absolute peak of the season, ensuring you witness the garden in its full glory. Reddit

Beyond the Blossoms: A Cultural Excursion

While the plum blossoms are the main draw, Ikegami Plum Garden offers more than just floral beauty. Its proximity to the magnificent Ikegami Honmonji Temple makes it an ideal destination for a combined cultural and natural exploration.
