What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Isola Polvese is praised as a peaceful, beautiful island perfect for relaxation and nature walks, with lovely swimming spots and historical interest. While the ferry can be busy, the island itself often feels surprisingly empty. Some visitors note inconsistent ferry service and limited amenities off-season.
"A nice, quiet island with a small swimming beach on it and a small restaurant/bar."
Michal Gefen
"The Isola Polvese is situated in the south eastern part of the Lake Trasimeno and is the largest of the three islands of the lake.
You can catch the little water bus across regularly (it isn't expensive and parking on the shore is free).
When you get across there is a nice little cafe, some great walks a few excellent swimming beaches and some nice historical buildings to see. It's easily a day out on it's own.
We visited in August 18 and although the boat across was busy all day, the island felt almost empty - really lovely."
David Mann
"Off season (september) the ferry is not consistent and all the places are closed. Still it's a nice hike that can be done in 60-90min. 120 min of you really take your time."
