Secondo te costa troppo? Hai mai visto i delfini? @poseidon. escursioni Ho trovato la prima escursione che ti porta alla ricerca dei delfini. Come funziona?

Reviews Summary

Visitors appreciate the Giardini Naxos Archaeological Park for its tranquil atmosphere, green spaces, and inexpensive entry fee, offering a relaxing escape from the heat and crowds. While the ruins are not as grand as other sites, the museum's artifacts and the pleasant park environment make it a worthwhile visit for a couple of hours. Some wish for more excavation and development to enhance its tourist appeal.

"I really enjoyed visiting this museum and park. I’m not an expert at all, and just wanted to wander in a quiet place with shade, away from the beach crowds. It was a complete delight, and I learned a lot too. There are ample areas to sit, and beautiful photo ops. It’s a highly relaxing space to spend 1-1.5 hours out of the strong sun."

Victoria Whiteley

"The site of ancient Naxos is mostly unexcavated and under developed as a tourist attraction, so don't expect mind-blowing wonders when visiting. However, for €4 you get to visit a old but nice little museum displaying interesting artefacts found there and you get to walk around the large park, which is quite pleasant with plenty of places to just sit and enjoy the quiet and scenery. Hopefully, more will be done with this place in the future as I feel it has potential if more excavation takes place and what is found is used to attract more tourists."

Tom Baker

"nice archeological park, the cats are really cute and beware: it can be very very hot to walk around in : I would suggest bringing some acqua. shame that the student ticket is not offered but only the eu 18-25 youth discount. I came with some friends from overseas who had to pay full price despite usually qualifying for a reduced price"

In-depth insights and expert knowledge

The Historical Significance of Naxos

Giardini Naxos holds a special place in history as the site of the first Greek colony established in Sicily, founded by Chalcidians around 734 BC. This marked the beginning of significant Greek influence and colonization across the island. While the archaeological park today may not feature towering structures, it represents the foundational roots of Magna Graecia in Sicily. The unexcavated nature of much of the site means that its true extent and grandeur remain largely hidden beneath the surface, hinting at a potentially vast ancient city. Reddit

Visiting the park offers a chance to connect with this deep history. The museum complements the outdoor site by displaying tangible evidence of the early settlers' lives. Artifacts like pottery, tools, and items recovered from ancient shipwrecks provide a direct link to the people who first inhabited this land. It’s a place to contemplate the origins of Sicilian culture and its enduring Greek legacy. Reddit+1
