Devil's Peak is praised for its breathtaking panoramic views and the intriguing historical fortification ruins. Hikers appreciate the challenging climb as a good workout, with some enjoying the unique opportunity to find quartz crystals. However, the steepness and numerous stairs can be demanding, and descending in the dark requires caution.

"Great get away from the city, proper walk path and amazing view from the top. And it’s also very touched and appreciated to see young hikers cleaning up the environment, picking up bottles/ trash that people (maybe accidentally) left along the trail….

Don’t search Devil’s Peak in google map to look for the trail entrance.. MRT Yau Tong station A2 and look for the Ko Chiu Road, Lei Yue Mun Housing estate… and walk up the slope towards the Tseng Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery and look for Wilson Trail entrance. And follow the sign to Devil’s Peak."

lam so Man

"An excellent spot to view the new lam tin TKO cross bay link and the new tunnel. The trial was not difficult to hike and you can enjoy panoramic harbor view of the Kowloon side and the island Victoria Harbour side."

The Challenging Ascent

The hike to Devil's Peak is renowned for its steepness, characterized by numerous flights of stairs. Travelers often describe it as a significant workout, with one Reddit user recalling, 'I’ll never forget those stairs.' Reddit This challenging climb means that proper preparation is key. Ensure you wear supportive hiking shoes with good traction, as the steps can be uneven and slippery, especially after rain. Bringing plenty of water is non-negotiable, as there are no facilities along the trail to replenish your supply. The effort, however, is widely considered worth it for the spectacular rewards at the summit. Reddit

Many visitors opt for an early morning hike to avoid the midday heat and humidity, which can make the climb considerably more arduous. Alternatively, a late afternoon hike allows for stunning sunset views, but this comes with a caveat: descending in the dark can be disorienting and potentially hazardous. If you plan to be on the peak as dusk settles, a reliable headlamp or flashlight is an absolute necessity. Reddit The steep nature of the trail makes it a rewarding challenge for those seeking an active adventure in Hong Kong's natural landscape.
