What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the stunning panoramic views of the Alps and the unique experience of exploring two castle ruins, Eisenberg and Hohenfreyberg, in close proximity. The well-maintained paths and informative signage are frequently praised, making it an accessible and enjoyable outing for families and hikers alike. Some mention the cafe as a pleasant stop, though it's an added amenity rather than a core attraction.
"Amazing place, same as the other ruins nearby. I parked the car on the car park "Wanderparkplatz Burgruinen Eisenberg und Hohenfreyberg”. From there I walked about 20 mins on an asphalt way through the plains with Alps vista. You can drive from another way and enter straight to the Forrest but this way itself was a very climatic place. Quiet, calm, green, beautiful. If you get tired, as you go by the road, you will get to the restaurant on the south east from the castles, just before the Forrest entrance (to grab some cold beer and have a rest with a view). Then you enter to the Forrest and have another 20 mins of easy way to the ruins. The castles are about 10 mins of slow walk from each other. If you wonder about shoes, sneakers will be perfectly fine."

"Amazing castle to visit. The walk up is lovely, and the cafe near the peak is an excellent reward for the effort. The ruins themselves have plenty of signs explaining what's what, and are in pretty good condition. The view is amazing."

"Excellent to visit for families with children. The first part from parking to the cottage restaurant is asphalt street through the meadows with cows and nice view. From the cottage restaurant the path goes trough the woods who likes adventures, but there is also easier way for small children, older people or others in not so good condition. Good view from the top, worth a visit."
