What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Mahn- und Gedenkstätte Düsseldorf for its modern presentation and deeply personal approach to history, highlighting the impactful individual stories. While some find it more suited for academic research, the free entry and excellent English audio guide make it a highly recommended and informative experience, especially with the added insights from translation apps. The air raid shelter is a notable feature.
"Small but really well done. Super modern. Free audio guide. I like a museum that tells the stories through the eyes and experiences of individuals who could have been friends had we lived at the same time in the same place. The bomb shelter wasn’t much, but the rest of the exhibits more than made up for it."

"Had some interesting stuff but seems more for academic research."

"Wonderful free museum highlighting personal experiences of young people under Nazi rule. Signage is all German, but free English audio guide is well done and succinct. There's definitely more to ascertain if you can read German, if you can't it's worth downloading the Deepl app and using it to translate the signage, as there's a lot more information there. Especially the wall panel of photos you flip around to read the story of the person. The current art exhibition is wonderful as well, but no translation or guide for signage there, so again Deepl extremely helpful if you can't read German. The old air raid shelter was very interesting too."
