Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the Uvita Whale Tail's unique natural beauty and the unforgettable experience of walking on the ocean floor during low tide. The opportunity to explore tide pools and witness stunning sunsets adds to its appeal. While the park entrance fee is noted, most find the experience well worth the cost for a memorable beach day.

"Absolutely incredible. You’re walking in the middle of the ocean. There’s $10 parking right outside the entrance and a $6/p entrance fee. Pack water shoes if you want to explore the end of the tail, but the water is nice and warm and sand is soft to swim! It’s a great place for a beach day! They offer whale tours off the coast which seemed nice as well :)"

Heather Holstein

"Excellent place to visit during low tide when the whale's tail is exposed. The tide pools are excellent, containing sea slugs, sea stars, crabs, and many types of fish. The end of the tail is rocky, but the walk there is sandy. There is no shade on the whale's tail, so a morning or late afternoon low tide is the best. It is crazy that you have to pay to go to the beach, as the "National Park" is only there to charge for beach access. It is very clean and nice."

Jack McCaslin

"Lovely and peaceful beach in a natural reserve. As you enter a reserve there is a ticket to buy, but you will do it on the spot. Access is until 6 pm when it gets dark anyhow. Great sunsets. Beware that at the sunset there is tide which means the beach is covered in water, however the water is not deep."

This natural spectacle draws visitors from around the globe, eager to walk on what feels like the ocean floor. The park itself is a protected marine area, named after the humpback whales that migrate through its waters twice a year, making the 'whale tail' a fitting symbol for this vibrant ecosystem. Instagram+1

Visitors can explore the sandbar, discovering fascinating tide pools that teem with marine life like sea slugs, starfish, and crabs when the tide recedes. The walk to the end of the tail is sandy, but the final stretch can be rocky, making water shoes a practical recommendation. Remember to always check the tide charts before your visit, as the tail's visibility is entirely dependent on the tidal cycle. Reddit

Beyond the whale tail, Marino Ballena National Park offers opportunities for whale watching tours, snorkeling, and enjoying the pristine beaches.
