What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally appreciate the Poly Art Museum's diverse collection of Chinese art and its accessibility. The unique sight of window washers on the exterior adds an unexpected element of interest. However, some may find the exhibits less engaging compared to more interactive or contemporary art spaces.
"Very nice they have managers that speak English, check out was 12 and we had our flight at 10pm they allowed us to use the pool and spa and gym for free . nice hotel definitely recommend . nice drinking area just a 5 min bike ride on the main street past the stadium on the right. I can fit my flat in that 1 room lol 😆"

"It's directly accessible from exit D of the Dongsi Shitiao metro station on line 2. Purchase your tickets from the concierges desk in main lobby. The museum is on the 9th floor of the New Poly Plaza. All items are beautifully arranged, behind glass with a direct spotlight, with simple English names but there's no further English text about the details. I wasn't offered an audio, but on the name plates of the displayed pieces, there was a headset symbol. It's a compact museum specifically focused on recovered relics from overseas. The main showcase is the 4 zodiac fountainheads (pig, monkey, tiger, and ox) that were ransacked from the Old Summer Palace in 1860. This gives interest to going to the Old Summer Palace. If you are interested in seeing the 3 other recovered fountainheads: rat and rabbit are housed in the National Museum, and the horse is housed in the Capital Museum. Next door to the Poly building is the Nanxincang Culture and Leisure Street. It's worth a stroll."

This makes it feasible to visit multiple museums in a single day. Remember to wear comfortable shoes, as you'll likely be doing a lot of walking. Always check the specific photography policies for each museum, as flash photography is often restricted.
For a more enriching experience, consider booking guided tours where available. These can provide valuable context and insights into the exhibits that you might otherwise miss. Additionally, exploring nearby attractions or engaging in cultural activities like traditional photo shoots can enhance your overall Beijing adventure.
Cultural Immersion Through Photography

The Poly Art Museum offers not only artistic treasures within but also interesting external sights, such as the window washers scaling its exterior, which makes for a dramatic and memorable photograph. The city's blend of ancient history and modern development means that every corner can offer a compelling photographic subject, from grand imperial palaces to bustling street scenes.
When exploring museums and historical sites, remember to respect the rules regarding photography. While many places allow non-flash photography, some may have stricter policies to preserve the artifacts. Always look for signage or inquire with staff. Utilizing your smartphone effectively for photography is also key, and understanding local payment methods like WeChat Pay can streamline your experience if you're using apps for navigation or booking.
