Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about Granite Island's stunning coastal views, unique rock formations, and the charming horse-drawn tram. The Kaiki Walk is praised for its scenic beauty and manageable difficulty, offering a peaceful escape. While some miss past attractions, the focus on natural beauty and wildlife remains a significant draw.

"We absolutely loved our visit to Granite Island! It’s such a beautiful and unique place with stunning coastal views all the way around. The walk across the causeway is really special, especially if you’re lucky enough to see the horse-drawn tram in action — it adds so much charm.

The island’s walking trail is easy to follow and offers amazing scenery — dramatic cliffs, interesting rock formations, and plenty of spots to stop and take photos. We enjoyed watching the waves crash against the rocks and even spotted some seals swimming nearby!

It’s also great to know that Granite Island is home to a little penguin colony — even though they’re shy during the day, it’s lovely to see how much care goes into protecting them.

The facilities are basic but good, with a café and information signs along the track. I’d recommend wearing comfy shoes and bringing a jacket — it can get windy!

Granite Island is a must-visit if you’re in Victor Harbor — a perfect mix of nature, wildlife, and local history. We can’t wait to come back!"

"This is a peaceful escape with stunning views and unique rock formations. The silence of the rocks feels like a reminder that life can be peaceful if we find peace within ourselves. I loved looking through the gaps between the rocks, almost like having a window to the sky and ocean, all blending into the most beautiful shade of blue.

The walk around the island is only about 2.9km, taking you on a scenic loop with breathtaking views and plenty of relaxing spots. This is easier than other trails, making it perfect for a casual stroll.

Highly recommended for those who enjoy walking/hiking. There’s still some up & down, but it’s an easy & relaxed one."

"Granite Island is a lovely spot to visit while in Victor Harbor. The coastal views are absolutely stunning, especially along the Kaiki Walk — a scenic trail that loops around the island with some stairs and steeper sections, but it's well worth the effort. The horse-drawn tram is a charming and nostalgic way to reach the island, though walking across the causeway is easy and offers great photo opportunities.

While the island used to have more attractions like native animals and a chairlift, the current focus on natural beauty and peaceful walking trails still makes it a worthwhile stop. There's a small café and restrooms available, which is convenient after a stroll. Overall, a relaxing and refreshing destination, especially for nature lovers and casual walkers."
