What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Du Gia Waterfall is praised for its stunning natural beauty and refreshing swimming opportunities, offering a tranquil escape. While the main falls can be busy, venturing further rewards visitors with secluded spots and a more peaceful experience. Some find the trek challenging, but the serene beauty is worth the effort.
"Quiet and amazing. Not so many people goes there obviously. Path is steep but not dangerous until the very last 50-100 metres. Then a machete could be useful: at least wear pants and long sleeves as there is some razor leef and break down some branches if you want to be able to find your way back."
Cédric Moreau
"To get to the second falls, head past the first falls on the right, and after about 5 minutes, the path will come to an end, so cross over to the left side. Then continue on the left path for about 5-10 minutes. If you continue after the second waterfall there are some small streams. These directions are brought to you by the dog in the attached photos.
The second waterfall is better than the first, more peaceful, and if there is enough water it is a better spot to swim. A great spot you should not miss on the loop."

"Way too far and long to hike to so we couldn’t get to the last waterfall like the guy in the newest review. There were so many lil streams otw.
At least we got a private spot to swim unlike the first noisy one 😅 and there was a tent (with CCTV) for picnic as well. And free fish massage lol (see vids)
Quite a long trek but still recommend for crowd avoiders like ourselves."

Navigating the Trails to Serenity
To find this more secluded spot, the advice is to head past the first waterfall on the right. After a short walk, you'll need to cross over to the left side and continue. This path, often following a stream, leads to a more tranquil pool and waterfall. This hidden gem is perfect for those seeking a quieter escape and a more intimate connection with nature.
Some visitors even report finding small streams and even more secluded pools beyond the second waterfall, making it a rewarding destination for those willing to put in a little extra effort. The 'dog in the attached photos' is humorously credited with providing directions to these further reaches, highlighting the adventurous spirit of exploring this area.
The Ha Giang Loop Connection
Its inclusion on the loop means it's a popular spot for easy riders and organized tours. This can lead to it being quite busy, especially in the mornings. However, the waterfall's natural beauty and the opportunity for a refreshing swim make it a worthwhile stop for most travelers completing the loop.
For those looking to experience the Ha Giang Loop and its stunning natural attractions like Du Gia Waterfall, booking with reputable local tour operators is often recommended. They can provide guidance on the best routes, safety, and ensure you don't miss out on hidden gems.
Experiencing the Waterfalls: From Thrills to Tranquility
Beyond the main attraction, the journey to discover more secluded spots is a significant part of the experience. The second waterfall, often found by following a stream, offers a more peaceful environment. Here, travelers can enjoy a quiet swim, picnic, or simply soak in the tranquility of the natural landscape. The presence of small streams and hidden pools further enhances this sense of discovery, allowing visitors to find their own private slice of paradise.
While the main waterfall can get crowded, especially with tour groups, the ability to escape to these quieter areas is a key takeaway from many reviews. This duality makes Du Gia Waterfall appealing to a range of visitors, from adventure-seekers to those simply looking for a peaceful natural escape.
