While the lack of shade and potential hazards like cacti and snakes require preparedness, the park is considered a top-tier destination for dog owners seeking an expansive, natural off-leash experience. The ongoing trail maintenance and ample space make it a beloved spot for many.

"This is my dog's happy place! I am so glad that it has been kept as an off leash area, rather than boxed in as just another dog park. I love that I can hike while my dog gets to stretch her legs and run. The views are amazing and my dog has had all positive interactions with other dogs.
I do wish they would invest in trail maintenance and another bridge or three over the canal would be a big improvement.
I usually go on Mondays or early in the morning, when parking is plentiful, but the weekend can be difficult. Do NOT park in the neighborhood."

"Wonderful off leash open space for dogs. Easy trails to access, not much shade in the open space. Don't forget your sunscreen, sunhat, water for yourself and dogs, and extra towels in case your dogs find a mud pit like ours did. Always bath time after we visit but it's worth it. Oh, an be careful with the cactus and goatheads. They are everywhere!"
