What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Guests appreciate the Andaz West Hollywood's iconic location on the Sunset Strip and its rich rock 'n' roll history. However, many reviewers note significant issues with slow Wi-Fi, unreliable phone reception, and high costs for parking and hotel services. Some also mention noise from the street and thin walls.
"I stayed at this hotel recently, and let me tell you, the internet moves at a pace that would make a snail feel confident. The phone reception isn’t much better. If you’re here for work and need a stable connection, prepare for frustration, meditation, or both.
Food and coffee lovers should also be warned. Anything worth tasting is about a thirty-minute walk away, which gives you plenty of time to question why you didn’t choose a different hotel.
The place itself is fine enough, but the Wi-Fi belongs to another century."

"Walls are paper thin you can hear anyone across or next door to you.
Hyatt- front desk workers I’m not sure who but …..They didn’t bring any of my check in Hyatt amenities and food/ drink I ordered upon arrival. Parking is outrageously over priced; well everything is. Nothing about this hotel has gotten an upgrade in over a dozen years of staying with them. Oh excuse me a Bluetooth speaker.
Atleast I feel safe here; it is very secure
Hotel comes with all of the noise from the streets of sunset but great prime location though if you want to eat good (not at the hotel) or shop around the area.
Housekeeping made me make room calls for everything.
One of the main lights never worked.
Dirty walls"

"We arrived Wednesday night from Australia. It was a good first impression. We let them know we weren’t from LA and are visiting and have never stayed at a nice hotel before. For the price of the stay we felt it could’ve been more customer friendly. For example; we had no idea about the destination fees, because nobody told us. It’s written in such small writing that you’ll pay 20% extra on top of food prices if you wanted to eat at the hotel, plus tax and then an expected tip. With the destination fees, we could have gotten some discount or complimentary food with local shops and restaurants but had no idea of this until we were checking out. It was written on an electronic poster that only stayed for a few seconds.
When we got into the hotel our bathroom power point didn’t work, our phones to call the front desk didn’t work, the tv channels didn’t work and we had mould in the shower. The beds were clean so that was a positive."

The Rock 'n' Roll Legacy
Imagine the stories these walls could tell! From guitarists throwing TVs out of windows to impromptu jam sessions, the hotel was a central hub for the era's music scene. Today, while the debauchery has subsided, the hotel embraces its past, offering guests a chance to stay in a place where music history was made. The vibe still carries a certain cool, a nod to its iconic status on the Sunset Strip.
For music enthusiasts, staying here is more than just a hotel stay; it's an immersion into a pivotal chapter of music culture. You can almost feel the echoes of the past as you explore the hotel's common areas and perhaps even your own room, which might have once hosted a rock legend.
Navigating Connectivity and Costs
Beyond connectivity, be prepared for the costs associated with staying here. Parking is notoriously expensive, and reviewers mention that many hotel services, including room service and even basic amenities, come with a significant price tag. There are also destination fees that can add a substantial amount to your bill, often not clearly communicated upfront.
Given these points, many guests recommend exploring dining options outside the hotel. The prime location on the Sunset Strip means there are plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby that offer better value and quality, allowing you to experience the local culinary scene while managing your budget.
Experiencing the Sunset Strip
However, this prime location comes with a trade-off: street noise. Due to its central position on a busy boulevard, some guests find the hotel can be noisy, especially at night. If you're a light sleeper, it's worth considering earplugs or requesting a room away from the main street.
Despite the potential for noise, the convenience of being on the Sunset Strip is a major draw. You're within walking distance of many attractions and have easy access to other parts of Los Angeles via rideshare or public transport.
