What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors often praise the stunning ocean views and direct beach access offered by Virginia Beach Oceanfront hotels. The lively boardwalk and excellent service from specific staff members are frequently highlighted as positives. However, some guests have experienced issues with room maintenance, parking costs, and occasional service delays.
"We really enjoyed our stay at the Marriott. We got the room we wanted, our luggage was taken to our room, most of the staff was very kind and helpful, and there are plenty of food options around.
The only downside is trying to get a luggage cart/bellboy while leaving. You aren’t allowed to grab your own luggage cart and must wait for a bellboy, but the wait is very long. We ended up carrying everything to the car by ourselves. Besides that, we had a lovely time."

"My 4 days 3 nights stayed here was great. Rooms can be a little more tidy!. Staff was nice. The parking should be free with a reservation, not charging $18 dollars per day☹️. The breakfast food should be a little better. My room view was amazing 😻. A plus overall but if they would give free parking it would be great, after all we already paying for the stayed."

"room falling apart. cockroaches everywhere. lobby makes the hotel look nice. don’t fall for it. poor staff were drowning in complaints and not enough of them. my room didn’t get cleaned for 3 days. to add on, the manager, nick was incredibly rude to my friends and i. just because we are younger doesn’t mean we deserve less respect than an adult would receive . on the brighter side, the pool was nice but sandy and the pool side bar was fantastic. would recommend getting more staff because service was slow. breakfast was outrageously expensive so those vouchers really helped. really consider a new manager!"

Choosing Your Oceanfront Hotel
Popular choices frequently mentioned include the Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront and Hyatt Place Virginia Beach Oceanfront, known for their prime locations and amenities. However, reviews suggest that even well-regarded hotels can have drawbacks. Some guests have noted issues with room tidiness, the cost of parking, and the efficiency of services like luggage assistance.
When booking, pay close attention to reviews regarding room condition, staff helpfulness, and any additional fees like parking or resort charges. While many guests rave about amazing room views and exceptional service from specific staff members, others have encountered maintenance issues or less-than-ideal management interactions.
Experiencing the Beach and Water
Beyond simply lounging, the beach and surrounding waters offer opportunities for various activities. Visitors can enjoy building sandcastles, playing beach volleyball, or trying out water sports like surfing or paddleboarding. Rental services for chairs, umbrellas, and equipment are typically available along the shore.
While the beach itself is a major attraction, some reviews mention that the sand can sometimes be a bit sandy around the pool areas, and service at poolside bars can be slow during busy periods. Despite these minor points, the overall beach experience is a significant highlight for most visitors.
