What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Tishomingo State Park for its stunning natural beauty, particularly the swinging bridge and hiking trails. The park offers a peaceful escape with opportunities for fishing and exploring ancient rock formations. Some areas of the campground and facilities could benefit from maintenance, and swimming options are limited.
"The new section - sites 38-62- is amazing! Just perfect. Beautiful large sites with lake views and perfectly paved and landscaped. The rest of the campground needs the same treatment asap and is in rough shape. A very quiet place. The swinging bridge and trail is very cool! The river is fantastic. The only disappointment for us was the lack of swimming opportunities. The pool has long been out of service and swimming isn't allowed in the lake. The river probably has some swimming holes but was flooded and brown when we were there. There is apparently some good rock climbing in the park and a nice waterfall hike that we didn't have time to check out. The people working there are very kind."

"This was a last minute getaway for us and it was only for a couple nights but we had a wonderful time. The campsites were well maintained. And all the accommodations were available. Staff was so incredibly friendly. We did two of the trail hikes and they were beautiful. We had campsite number four and I will. just say the only down side could be that the fire pit and picnic table was down a slope from the RV pad. I think the lower number campsites are the same. If this is an issue, just contact the state park and ask them about it. It wasn't an issue for us. Thanks to the staff for a wonderful getaway."

"I loved my experience at Tishomingo. Absolutely beautiful sights. Very nice, well-kept hiking trails. A beautiful lake and river for fishing. The forest was breathtaking.
Only complaints are that it is in need of upkeep and maintenance. Some of the roads need to be leveled and re-paved. I only found one usable restroom throughout the whole park. Maybe there's another one, but I couldn't find it. Also, I didn't like that you aren't allowed to fish the lake from the campsite area without renting a campsite. There were no campers that I was in the way of. There should be no problem with me fishing in an unused campsite.
Other than those complaints, it was an awesome experience, and I'll definitely be returning."
