Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Cape Lookout State Park for its stunning natural beauty, offering both a beautiful beach and lush forest trails. The park's quiet atmosphere, especially at night, and the availability of private campsites are frequently highlighted as major positives. While generally well-maintained, some minor critiques mention the bathrooms, though this doesn't deter most from highly recommending a visit.

"Great campground with beautiful beaches. We rented a yurt for the weekend which was really great especially during the stormy nights. The campground host was really helpful and kind. It's a wonderful spot for a weekend getaway."

Tim Goodwin

"If you're looking for a private campsite this park has many more than I've ever seen!
The beach is a short walk and its beautiful! I've stayed here about five times and highly recommend it!
The only reason I gave it four, instead of five stars is due to the bathroom. Again, not the worst I've seen by any means but four stars it is, and it wouldn't stop me from returning.
A great campground!"

Tim Stansfield-Church

"If you're seeking panoramic ocean vistas that truly steal your breath, look no further. This place is all about dramatic cliffs plunging into the roaring Pacific. The hike to the very tip is absolutely exhilarating – you're surrounded by lush forest one moment, then suddenly emerge to sweeping, unobstructed views of endless blue and whitecaps. Keep an eye out for whales! The sheer scale of the coastline from up there is incredible. It’s a powerful, awe-inspiring experience that makes you feel tiny in the best possible way. Come for the views, stay for the profound sense of wild beauty. Don't miss it!"
