What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Mayer State Park offers beautiful views of the Columbia River and gorge, along with a lake suitable for fishing, boating, and swimming. While many enjoy the natural setting and ample space, some visitors find the $10 entry fee steep for the limited amenities and have noted concerns about unofficial campsites impacting trail experiences.
"This place is great to fish, kayak or place a boat. It used to be a nice trail to walk into the park, but right now as of 8/23/25 there are people living back there with all the additions to a campground, but this isn’t a campground! Now when I fish I have to conceal carry just to get to where I go to fish! The girl hide behind her hanging towels yesterday as I approached, I turned and went a different route! She’s living on the public land portion not the small patch of NF! I hope a ranger removes her quickly, idk if others are with her but it’s gross and doesn’t smell like you’re in a thick covered area with fruit and wildlife, that’s for sure!"

"I just paid $10 for the lamest park I've been to in quite awhile. The only amenities is the outhouse and garbage can.
Drive down the road to Bikini Pond. Its free and they offer more of everything you would get here.
How can they get away with charging so much for so little."
Continuous Traveler
"This park has a wonderful view of the Columbia River and gorge. It is a point along the river where the vegetation is changing from a forest to the eastern environment of dessert. There are two great trails you can hike and an observation area."
