What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Six Flags Great Escape offers a pleasant, well-maintained park experience with a focus on family-friendly rides and a popular water park. While some coasters are classic and enjoyable, thrill-seekers might find it less intense than other Six Flags locations. Concerns have been raised about ride maintenance and water park cleanliness, but the Fright Fest event is a highly anticipated highlight for many.
"It's definitely the smallest Six Flags Park I've been to. The coasters are also less on the wild side and more family oriented. That said it is a good looking park. Appears well kept and has good views. The coasters are still fun even though most are on the smaller side. The Bobcat was smooth and had enough small pops of air time to make up for the shorter length. Comet was longer and fun but definitely bumpier due to its age. Steamin Demon wasn't as rough as it's reputation."

"Great Fright Fest, the haunted mazes were a blast. Recommend fast pass for rides to skip the line. As many people in groups, or knew of "family/friends" about 20 people ahead were line jumping in the regular wait, making it an inconvenience to those who followed the rules. Not worth arguing or calling people out when it was 15 minutes to close, just rude, an the entitlement was baffling. No cash, only card. All employees were incredibly talented and super nice. It was a Frightfully Fantastic Day 🖤🧡 Looking forward to next year 😁🎊"

"Great just please clean the pools. I had a ton of band-aides coming flying with the waves in the wave pool. Also hair . I love the wave pool please keep it clean 😊 prices could go down with the food , also shouldn’t have to wait 4 hours between meals with the passes ! Please have life guard on duty at the bottom of the kids water slide near the wave pool. We do love the atmosphere & all the attractions for the littles especially with timber town and the water park is our absolute favorite for the kiddos ! Hot tub needed for adults 🤣"

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Young Children
When visiting with children, prioritize arriving early to explore these areas before they get too crowded. Consider bringing a stroller for easier navigation, and be prepared for the park's cashless policy by having cards readily available for food and souvenirs. While the park offers family-friendly fun, keep an eye on younger children near water attractions and be aware of the potential for startling characters during Fright Fest if you choose to visit during that season.
🎢 Thrill-Seekers
To make the most of your thrill-seeking day, consider purchasing a Fast Pass to minimize wait times, especially for the more popular rides. Be aware that ride availability can fluctuate due to maintenance, so checking the park's status updates is recommended. During Fright Fest, the haunted attractions can offer a different kind of thrill, adding to the park's appeal for those who enjoy a good scare.
💰 Budget-Conscious Travelers
Food prices within the park are typically high, so consider packing some snacks if allowed, or budgeting carefully for meals. If you plan on eating multiple meals in the park, investigate if a dining pass offers good value. While a Fast Pass is recommended for ride efficiency, it adds to the overall cost. Weigh the expense against the potential time saved and decide if it fits your budget and priorities for the day.

Navigating Hurricane Harbor
When planning your visit to Hurricane Harbor, consider arriving early, especially on hot days, as the water park areas can become crowded. Life jackets are typically available for younger children, but it's always wise to ensure your little ones are supervised closely, especially near the water slides and deeper areas of the wave pool. The park also offers cabanas for rent, providing a shaded retreat for families looking for a more comfortable experience.
Experiencing Fright Fest
If you plan to attend Fright Fest, it's advisable to purchase tickets in advance and consider arriving early to maximize your time. The park often implements a Fast Pass system, which can be invaluable for bypassing long queues for both rides and haunted attractions. Be prepared for a different atmosphere than a typical park visit; the focus shifts to scares and Halloween-themed entertainment. It's also worth noting that the park's overall vibe changes significantly after dark, with lighting and sound effects contributing to the spooky ambiance.
Ride Experience & Expectations
A common point of feedback is the potential for rides to be closed for maintenance. This can be disappointing, so checking the park's app or website for ride status updates before or during your visit is a good practice. For those who want to maximize their ride time and minimize waiting, investing in a Fast Pass is frequently recommended by park-goers, as lines can become quite long, especially on weekends or during special events. The park's well-maintained appearance and good views are often cited as positive aspects, contributing to an enjoyable atmosphere despite the ride intensity.
