What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Guests praise the Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark for its spacious, well-equipped suites and the highly entertaining indoor waterpark, making it a hit with families. The convenient location across from the theme park is also a significant plus. However, visitors note that on-site dining and amenities are expensive, and the waterpark can be quite loud.
"Stayed here for business while making it fun for the kids, and overall it was a solid experience. The lodge is spacious—our room had a full kitchen, two bathrooms, and plenty of room for the family. Starbucks in the lobby is a nice perk, though it closes from 12–4, so plan accordingly.
The water park was a hit with the kids, but it’s extremely loud—earmuffs are a must for little ones sensitive to noise. Forgot flip-flops? No problem, the water park store has them… but be ready for steep prices.
Most things here come at a premium. Food, snacks, and coffee are expensive, and they don’t accept cash anywhere except the coin-operated washing machines (go figure). The rooms were mostly clean—microwave could use a better wipe-down—but nothing alarming.
The location is convenient if you’re visiting Six Flags—it’s right across the road—but other attractions like mini-golf or ice cream require a short drive.
Overall, great for a family getaway with kids, but be prepared for the higher prices and some minor inconveniences. Still, the spacious rooms and fun water park make it worth a visit."

"Had a fun weekend getaway at Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark with the family. The indoor waterpark delivered plenty of thrills with its slides, and the attached theme park access is a huge plus for coaster fans. Clean rooms, friendly staff, and the overall vibe kept everyone entertained.
That said, the waterpark feels noticeably smaller than Great Wolf Lodge and Kalahari in the Poconos, PA. If you’re used to those massive setups, it might feel a bit compact. No planned activities for the kids. No wave pool either, which was a massive letdown. Dining options inside the lodge are also limited…..wish there were more restaurants to choose from without heading out.
If you’re around the NYC area and prioritizing a bigger indoor waterpark experience, I’d recommend Great Wolf Lodge or Kalahari."

"We stayed this weekend for a soccer tournament with a group of 50 parents and kids. Both parents and kids had a great time. The rooms were adequate. The indoor water park was exceptionally fun. But the standout moment was when MaryAnn was able to help facilitate a gathering on the 2nd floor foyer for our entire group to enjoy pizza together. MaryAnn went above and beyond, and for that we thank her. The entire staff was accommodating & friendly. We will be back again next October!"

In-depth insights and expert knowledge
The Indoor Waterpark Experience
While the waterpark is a definite draw, some visitors have compared it to larger facilities like Great Wolf Lodge or Kalahari and found it to be more compact. There isn't a wave pool, which was a disappointment for some. Despite these comparisons, the waterpark is generally well-maintained and clean, offering a fun escape regardless of the weather outside. The convenience of having it attached to the lodge means easy access for families looking to maximize their water fun without leaving the resort.
Suite Accommodations & Amenities
Beyond the in-room amenities, the lodge provides a Starbucks in the lobby, though its operating hours can be limited. Other conveniences include Wi-Fi access throughout the property. The location is a major plus, being directly across the street from the Six Flags Great Escape theme park, facilitating easy access for a combined visit. However, for attractions beyond the theme park, such as mini-golf or ice cream shops, a short drive is usually necessary.
Dining and Budget Considerations
Given the cost of on-site dining, guests with suites featuring kitchens often find it beneficial to stock up on groceries from nearby supermarkets. This strategy can significantly help manage the overall cost of the trip, especially for families. While the food quality is generally acceptable, the high prices are a recurring point in guest feedback.
