What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the unique and colorful boardwalk at Saco Heath Preserve, offering an accessible way to explore a rare bog ecosystem. While some find parking challenging on busy days and note the lack of shade, the preserve's ancient, magical feel and diverse foliage are consistently praised.
"Interesting walk with tons of foliage to check out. I enjoy that this exists and if I lived nearby would probably walk it all the time. There are benches to sit as well and little charts for people to read. A few boards need fixing and easy walk for most but very sunny."
Rachel C.
"Definitely happy we got to check out this beautiful place. We had a hard time finding parking on a Sunday afternoon but by the time we got back to our car half the lot was empty. Very beautiful landscape and really enjoyed reading all the signs along the way. The boardwalk is very nice, just not very wide at all. I imagine this is a great spot for birdwatching and we enjoyed looking at the different flowering plants. There is essentially no shade on the majority of the trail, so keep that in mind if you go in the heat of summer."

"Absolutely LOVE this boardwalk!! The beginning can get muddy & hard to navigate with a stroller in the spring, but the entire boardwalk part was perfect!! Slats close enough that wheels easily glide across without being too bumpy for wee ones."
