What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the stunning coastal scenery, abundant wildlife sightings (especially sea otters!), and the well-maintained, paved trail perfect for biking, walking, and running. The charming towns of Monterey and Pacific Grove offer delightful stops along the way. Some find it can get crowded during peak times, requiring patience.
"This coastal recreation trail is actually 18 miles long that runs from Pacifuc Grive to Castroville that was the original route of the Southern Pacifuc Railway. This paved trail is wide enough for bikes, joggers, strollers and pedestrians walking to shops or walking for fitness. We walked from the Monterey Matrine Aquarium thru Cannery Row and about 30 minutes on foot past Fishermans Wharf. And then we walked back. We stopped on the way to shop a little, enjoy some salt water taffy and a great taco lunch. We also ventured off the trail into the beach in done places
Public accessible restrooms. Some free street parking and paid garage parking with accessible spaces. Good walking"

"Wonderful path that blesses its local citizens with a chance to not just trolley through by foot or bike, but also to take in and enjoy such a majestic view! My only complaint is the sea wall from the road needs to be higher to reach from average car door to window height, so it doesn't let the smog flow (especially after the non-vented Lighthouse Ave Tunnel) seap onto this path. The stench of smog in that sector is pretty bad, especially with this recent increased car traffic."

"I went on a bike ride with my hubby here after we saw my daughter play volleyball at CSU, Monterey. The views are amazing. If you enjoy riding, I highly recommend it. I'm new to bike trails, but I've never seen anything like this. We're blessed to live in sunny California."
