What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Mormon Trail Center at Winter Quarters for its moving exhibits and the dedication of its missionary guides. The historical accuracy and the emotional impact of the Pioneer Cemetery are frequently highlighted. While most experiences are positive, some mention inconsistent quality of guide interactions.
"In August 2025, we visited the Mormon Trail Center at Winter Quarters in Omaha, Nebraska. This Mormon Trail Center has amazing displays and a movie to watch. Next to the Mormon Trail Center is the Mormon Trail Cemetery and the Winter Quarters LDS Temple. The buildings and landscaping were amazing and well designed and maintained. We felt God's love and peace as we visited these places. We also better understood the challenges that these Mormon Pioneers went through in preparing for their long journey. We highly recommend the Mormon Trail Center at Winter Quarters to visit."

"We happened to be there over General Conference weekend and we were surprised to learn it was still open! Great tour guide missionaries (thankfully this time, we got the older missionaries and not the immature and cringy, young-adult sister missionaries that “helped” us the last time we visited.) 😳😬
The center was virtually empty and we were able to see everything we wanted to. It has a neat handcart that you can use and try for yourself. There are other displays with oxen, and the immigrant ship “Wyoming.” Good quality displays! Don’t forget to go downstairs to see the art museum.
The trail center is located next to the Winter Quarters temple and pioneer cemetery monument."

"This is a true historical museum. It has authentic artifacts that belonged to the pioneers. There are very helpful tour guides (missionaries for the Chruch of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints). The tour guides tell true stories about those crossing the plains and make it feel real. Some of the stories really hit home for me. They have some fun activities for kids and interactive activities as well."
