"The General Crook House Museum is a hidden gem! This Italianate style home is on the campus of the Omaha Metropolitan Community College. There is street parking and a parking lot available. If the door is locked during opening hours, ring the door as instructed by a sign on the door. We were greeted by Robin, a wonderful woman who wealth of knowledge about the house is unparalleled! She shared stories about residents of the military post and events of its time. We spent more time than we expected walking the rooms that have been restored with Victorian decor and furnishings. Ceilings, wallpapers, carpets, furniture, and items of the time period all combine for an incredibly rich experience. Be sure to look for the rare Treasury seal on the door knobs and antique butt hinges which allow the door to open 180 degrees. The outdoor gardens are worth the time too."
