Rocky and Seaweedy Shoreline

The lagoon pond is rocky and has algae/seaweed, making swimming less ideal. Stick to the shoreline. Reddit

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Granite Reef Recreation Area for its scenic beauty, opportunities for paddleboarding, and chances to see wildlife like wild horses. It's a good spot for picnics and enjoying nature. However, the water can be rocky and seaweedy, and summer months may bring leeches. Some also note the presence of trash in the river.

"Great place to picnic or chill. Paddle boarding is a nice option here since there isn’t really any flow to the water. You can swim here and I did, it is pretty seaweedy, but if you want to cool off you can totally take a dip."

Trevor Hyatt

"Awesome place to go and be with nature and fish.
Unfortunately I didn't catch anything but bushes, branches, and a couple bags of trash, but I had a pretty swell time being there."

David Lindsey

"Good picnic area, lagoon pond is really rocky and full of algae/seaweed, so floating is ok but otherwise you have to stay on the shoreline to avoid it. Paddle boarders seem to like it there, parking is always full even when nobody is actually there."
