Visitors enjoy the scenic drive and the tangible remnants of Civil War history, like carved tributes. However, some note the lack of amenities and the need for more preservation to enhance the visualization of the battle.

"historical place where you can touch the history of this place. sorry there are no benches so that you can sit and fill with the silence of this place. it is at the very top of the pass, the road is very winding and narrow. when I went up to the top, I saw clouds itching against the tips of trees. a good place to get acquainted with the history of these places."

"Nice place with a lot of potential. Several plaques describing battle but hardly any preservation or restoration. Kept up very nicely and is very peaceful. Camp Garnett is on east side of mountain, not much there but part of the history. Some brush clearing and a little effort to get the area restored to what it was during those times, would help with visualization of the battle."

Steve Shepard

"Overall it was worth going to see, nobody else was up there at the time we were there. I wouldn't recommend it for everyone but if you're like us and into history, it's well worth the stop."
