What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Mines Road Scenic Drive for its beautiful scenery, diverse wildlife, and well-maintained trails suitable for various activities. The park is a great escape for nature lovers, though some note the need for a photography permit and the parking fee.
"I recently photographed a family session at Sycamore Grove Park, and it’s a beautiful, well-kept location with so much space to work with. The park is about 1,000 acres, has two entrances, and the restrooms are reasonably well maintained — a great spot for portraits and outdoor sessions.
For photographers: the park does require a permit, which can be easily submitted online for $50. The permit is good for the entire day and includes two parking passes, which is super convenient. Definitely apply the Monday before your session to avoid any issues. If you shoot without a permit, the ranger may fine you $100 and you’ll still need to pay for parking on top of it — so it’s best to plan ahead.
Overall, a gorgeous location with good amenities and clear guidelines — just make sure you have your permit ready!"

"Sycamore is a great local park for getting out with family and friends for a relaxing stroll on the outskirts of Livermore. On moderate weather days, some great wildlife shots can be gathered. I went on a day when by 10:30am we had 100* weather so everything was hiding in shade. Still, this park is relatively flat and easy to get around for those who are mobility limited. It's $5 to park in the lot, frequent locals will park on the streets of the surrounding neighborhood. Bathrooms are available at the parking lot. Beautiful place to visit."

"This park is alive... just close your eyes and listen; you'll hear a variety of birds and rustling sounds, along with the humming undercurrent of life all around. It features great trails for walking or cycling with benches scattered throughout. Lots of gnarly trees for photo ops. This park is well cared for and a gift to all of us. Be prepared to pay $5 for parking."
