What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the beautiful grounds, scenic views, and the availability of shady picnic areas, making it a lovely spot for relaxation and events. However, some guests have experienced inconsistent communication regarding picnic policies and purchase requirements, leading to dissatisfaction with hospitality.
"We were really looking forward to visiting this winery and having a nice picnic on the lawn with family. My mom called ahead to ask if we needed a reservation for the picnic tables and whether there was a minimum purchase required. The man on the phone was friendly and told her no reservation or minimum was needed—just to come and enjoy ourselves. We still fully intended to buy some wine while there.
When we arrived, it was quite busy inside, so we decided to start with our picnic on the lawn. A little later, a woman came out and told us we needed to buy wine to be there. I let her know we were planning on it—it just looked too crowded earlier. When I went inside, it was completely empty. I did a tasting to see what bottle I wanted to buy, and over the course of about an hour, I went in and out (we were seated outside and it was 95 degrees).
When I finally went in to purchase the one bottle I enjoyed, the woman insisted we needed to buy more wine—either a tasting or bottle purchase per person (even though 3 adults in our group don’t drink). I explained again that we were happy to support the winery and had every intention of doing so, but this was very different from what we were told on the phone. She was incredibly rude and dismissive, despite the fact that the lawn and tasting room were nearly empty and we weren't taking space from anyone else.
I’m disappointed by the lack of transparency and the way we were treated. We came with good intentions and were met with conflicting information and poor hospitality. A little clarity and kindness would have gone a long way.
The two stars are for the atmosphere as the grounds are beautiful and nice to walk around. But we will not be returning."

"Great and affordable place to do a Tri-Valley or San Francisco area wedding. The venue is so beautiful. There is a nature reserve across the road, so the view for our guests was great. We had a big wedding so there was plenty of indoor and outdoor space. I liked that we had very little decorating to do because the grounds were so beautiful.
My husband and I loved the large open space. We had 250 guests and about 50 were kids. It was important for us to have a lot of green space for the kids to run around and not be near any cars.
These are pictures from our May 2016 wedding. We were one of the first weddings after a change in ownership. The staff was great and easy to coordinate with, and they worked with us to bring in our own caterer.
Quick story: Other venues I looked at nickle and dimed. For example, other wineries wanted to charge an extra $3 per chair to upgrade from ugly metal chairs. At Rios, the chairs they have are very nice. Also, at Rios, they are upfront about what they provide (the space, the tables, chairs, and drinks) and what you the couple bring (decorations and food).
Great, great hassle-free experience!"

🚇 🗺️ Getting There
The Tesla Road Wine Corridor is located on Tesla Road. Driving is the most common way to access the area. Parking is generally available at the wineries, though it can fill up on busy weekends.
Public transportation options are limited for direct access to individual wineries. It's best to arrange a designated driver, use a ride-sharing service, or consider a wine tour if you plan to visit multiple locations.
Many visitors drive their own vehicles or hire a driver. Some wineries are within walking distance of each other, but it's a spread-out corridor, so planning your route is key.
🎫 🎫 Tickets & Entry
Reservations are often recommended, especially for tastings and on weekends. Some wineries may have specific policies regarding reservations for picnics or groups. It's always best to call ahead.
Entry to the corridor itself is free. However, individual wineries typically charge tasting fees or have minimum purchase requirements, especially for groups or during special events.
Hours vary by winery, but most are open from late morning to late afternoon, typically from 10 AM or 11 AM to 4 PM or 5 PM. Some may have extended hours for concerts or events.
Some visitors have reported being told there's a minimum purchase requirement to picnic on the grounds, though this can be inconsistent. It's advisable to clarify this directly with the winery.

Picnicking and On-Site Policies
However, it's important to be aware of potential policy nuances. Some visitors have encountered situations where they were informed of a need to purchase wine to utilize the picnic facilities, which sometimes contradicted information received earlier. This inconsistency can lead to confusion. To ensure a smooth experience, it's highly recommended to clarify the specific picnic and purchase policies directly with the winery upon arrival or when making any advance inquiries.
Understanding these guidelines beforehand will help manage expectations and ensure you can fully enjoy the beautiful grounds without any surprises. The overall sentiment is that the grounds are lovely, but communication regarding usage policies can sometimes be a point of friction.
Event Hosting and Venue Features
Reviewers highlight the venue's suitability for large gatherings, noting that there's plenty of green space for children to play safely, away from traffic. The staff is often described as helpful and easy to coordinate with, with a willingness to work with couples on details like catering. The transparency regarding what is provided (space, tables, chairs, drinks) versus what the couple needs to bring (decorations, food) is also a significant plus for many.
Features like attractive, included chairs (avoiding upgrade fees common elsewhere) and the scenic backdrop from nearby nature reserves contribute to a hassle-free and memorable event experience. The overall impression is that the venue offers great value and a picturesque setting for celebrations.
