What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally find Wildlife World Zoo to be a large and engaging park with a good variety of animals and interactive experiences like sea lion shows and giraffe feeding. While some note that certain enclosures can be empty or lack shade, the park's growth, new additions like baby animals, and unique exhibits like the Kangaroo Walkabout are frequently praised. The Sky Ride and aquarium sections are also popular highlights.
"Lovely zoo with aquarium, restaurants and animal encounters. It also has a few rides and tours. We went today, 9/8/2025, and it absolutely as dead as could be. The heat was oppressive (but we knew it would be) and most of the attractions were for the summer. We pretty much had the place to ourselves and we really enjoyed our visit. We will be back in the Fall and in the Winter. We watched the Sea Lion show and we're lucky enough to see every big cat in action. The tram ride was wonderful and provided a great little break from walking. Our guide was great! The knowledgeable staff was friendly and available. The only thing that keeps this review from being a 5 is the lack of seating throughout the park and the aquarium. But, truly an absolutely awesome experience!"

"If you are in or near Phoenix AZ I highly recommend stopping here. Although a lot of the enclosures were empty, there was still plenty to see. A lot of the animals were interactive. I like how they have an outdoor section on the right, then an aquarium section on the left. That way you can go back and forth to cool down. I’ve also been to zoos with snack stands but this one has actual restaurants. I believe only the pizza place was open. Which was good but not great for the price and size.
I do wish they put more effort into the enclosures for the animals to cool down. Some just had a puddle of water and no shade. I was on the verge of a heat stroke so I can only imagine how hot some of these animals are in the summer. Overall it was a cool experience. You can feed giraffes, go up in the air over a bunch of enclosures, food and gift shops."

"We’ve been visiting Wildlife World Zoo for years, and it’s been a joy watching it grow and expand over time. There’s always something new to see, but some of our favorites never change—like the peaceful Sky Ride and the incredible kangaroo walkabout, where you can get up close and personal with the animals. It’s one-of-a-kind.
The mini coaster is a fun little thrill, and the tram ride in the back of the park is a must-do for the full experience. If you're lucky, you'll catch a glimpse of baby animals in the nursery—a heartwarming highlight every time.
The walk-through aquariums are always a hit, and the fact that they’re constantly adding new features keeps things exciting for return visits. The park is clean, the animals look healthy and well-cared-for, and there’s a good mix of things to do for all ages.
There’s also a petting zoo, which is perfect for younger kids, and several other rides throughout the park that add even more variety to the experience.
We usually visit during the week when it’s a bit quieter, though weekends offer more attractions and activities. A great tip for families: during Easter season, Hickman’s egg cartons often include buy-one-get-one-free coupons—a great way to save on what can be a slightly pricey admission.
If you haven’t been yet, look them up and give them a chance—there’s something here for everyone, and it’s a great way to spend the day whether you're local or visiting."

Navigating the Park: Size and Layout
To make the most of your visit and cover the vast grounds, comfortable footwear is essential. Consider utilizing the park's transportation options like the Sky Ride for a relaxing aerial perspective or the tram ride in the back of the park for a different view and a break from walking. Planning your route in advance can help ensure you see your must-visit exhibits without feeling rushed.
While the park is large, some visitors have noted a lack of seating throughout the park, particularly in the aquarium areas. This is something to keep in mind, especially during hotter months or if you have young children or mobility concerns. Bringing a portable stool or planning frequent rest stops might be beneficial.
Animal Encounters and Conservation
Interactive experiences are a key part of the zoo's appeal. Visitors can enjoy feeding giraffes, a popular activity that allows for close interaction. The Kangaroo Walkabout offers an immersive experience where you can get up close and personal with these marsupials. Additionally, the aquarium features a hands-on stingray tank, where these 'puppies of the sea' are known to enjoy being touched.
While the zoo aims to provide enriching environments, some reviews mention that certain enclosures could benefit from more shade and better cooling systems for the animals, especially during the extreme Arizona summer heat. However, many visitors report that the animals appear healthy and well-cared-for, and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The zoo's commitment to showcasing a wide variety of species and celebrating new arrivals contributes to its appeal as a place for both entertainment and education.
Photography Tips for Wildlife World Zoo
When photographing the big cats, patience is key. Visit during the cooler parts of the day when they are more likely to be active. The aquarium sections present a different challenge, requiring a camera with good low-light performance. While flash photography is generally discouraged in sensitive areas to avoid startling animals, a camera that handles low light well will help you capture clear images of fish and other aquatic creatures.
Don't forget to look out for the peacocks that freely roam the zoo grounds; they often provide colorful and unexpected photo opportunities. Remember to check for any specific photography restrictions, such as flash use, before you start snapping pictures. With a bit of planning and the right gear, you can come away with some stunning wildlife photos from your visit.
