What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Haskell Indian Nations University is praised for its vibrant cultural events, supportive staff, and valuable health services for students. However, some reviews highlight concerns regarding campus housing conditions and administrative responsiveness. Despite these challenges, many visitors and alumni express a strong sense of community and appreciation for the university's dedication to Indigenous culture.
"Haskell is a trap, it's cheap for a reason!! They only show the nice rooms from the newer building, don't be fooled! There is mold in the showers and rooms, missing security and S/RA's that don't do their jobs so if something serious happens, you'll be on your own. Professors are great and the other staff such as library, janitors and serving + kitchen staff are wonderful but the housing head ignores you or from what I heard, belittles. We did get served moldy bread and meals are hit or miss. Room checks say you need a "made bed an d organized desk", thats ridiculous esp considering they turn a blind eye to the moldy peeling caulking strips in the showers and are stingy when they turn on the heat for the rooms. Choose a different uni if you can. Read about the ignored SA reports journal of the uni but there's bullying that occurs too."

"My husband is Haskell alumnus. He took me go around campus and they have a food facility. One day my husband’s tooth so hurts and he needed to get his tooth pulled. We traveled from Alaska so we didn’t know where to go here in Lawrence, KS but he found out that there was Haskell Health Center and he finally could walk in and get his tooth pulled. Zero bill since he showed his Tribal ID."

"I really enjoyed the festival last Saturday. I really enjoy festivals like this because they allow me to be a part of and learn about others' Indigenous cultural backgrounds and my own Indigenous ancestry. Also, I had fun talking to the staff and students. They were all very nice, especially a student named Jordan who didn't mind spending time with me. I will be driving back again for the next festival and/or any other community events that will take place!"
