What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Antelope Valley Fair offers a mix of live entertainment, rides, and food, but visitors frequently cite high prices for food and drinks as a major drawback. Crowding can also be an issue, particularly on weekends, impacting the overall experience for some. While many enjoy the music and atmosphere, the cost-effectiveness is a recurring concern.
"Was here for a CERT Training event. No other activities. Physical space has large, comfortable restrooms. Comfortable space and well maintained."

"I haven't been to the AV Fair and Center in about ten years, and I was excited to enjoy the fair again. However, I was shocked to see the prices. I completely understand inflation, but a turkey leg is not worth $24, a small water bottle for $5, and a decent caramel apple for $15. These prices were astronomical. I have spent less for food at Disneyland and at the Renaissance Fair. Although there was law enforcement and security present, several fights still broke out.
There were also fewer vendors than I remember, and the competitions for photographs, table setups, and animals were much smaller this year than in previous years. It truly showed how times have changed when it comes to wholesome family fun and community spirit. We seem to be moving away from art, craftsmanship, and tributes to our past—things that once brought people together and showcased individual passion.
It’s sad to see how we’ve drifted from spending time on our hobbies and creativity, becoming more absorbed in the age of technology and social media. We’re no longer celebrating the individual and their unique abilities, but rather losing touch with the simple joys of hands-on work, imagination, and genuine connection that used to define local fairs and community gatherings."

"I enjoyed this fair it was my first time but liked that they had live music bands playing. They obviously sell alcohol and had plenty of foods/snacks & drinks to choose from. They have plenty parking but can sometimes be a long walk unless you take their shuttle of that's what you call it. The rides were also pretty cool but I didn't get on any. Apparently I visited the last day of the fair. 😎"

👨👩👧 Families with Kids
Look for family-friendly entertainment like dog shows or magic acts. Some events, like the 4th of July celebrations, have featured free jumpers (inflatable slides) which are a big hit with kids. Be mindful of potential overcrowding, especially on weekends, which can be challenging with strollers or young children.

Understanding AV Fair Pricing
While inflation is acknowledged as a factor, the reported prices are consistently described as 'astronomical.' This has led some visitors to suggest budgeting very carefully or considering alternatives like bringing their own snacks if permitted by the venue. The high cost can detract from the traditional 'wholesome family fun' aspect that many associate with community fairs.
It's important for potential visitors to be aware of these pricing trends before attending. Researching current prices on the official AV Fair website or social media, or seeking advice from recent attendees on forums like Reddit, can help in planning your budget effectively.
Navigating Crowds and Accessibility
To mitigate these issues, arriving early in the day or visiting on weekdays is often recommended. This can provide a more comfortable experience with less congestion. It's also crucial to be aware of the 'no refunds' policy for tickets and wristbands, especially when purchasing ride passes, as unmet requirements like height restrictions can lead to significant financial loss.
While the venue offers large, comfortable restrooms, the overall accessibility can be compromised by the dense crowds. Visitors seeking a more relaxed experience might want to strategize their visit, perhaps focusing on specific attractions during less busy times or opting for events that are known to be less crowded.
Entertainment and Activities
For those seeking active participation, line dancing events have been popular, with dedicated areas and instructors. While the fair has historically included competitions in areas like photography, crafts, and animal exhibits, some recent reviews suggest a reduction in the scale of these events, with a perceived shift away from traditional craftsmanship and community spirit.
Amusement rides are a staple of the fair, offering thrills for many. However, it's essential to be aware of height and rider restrictions before purchasing ride passes, as these can lead to disappointment if not met. The fair also hosts various food vendors and trucks, providing a wide selection of culinary options, though visitors should be prepared for higher-than-average prices.
