Lana'i Day Trip Recommendations
When we took a day trip to Lana’i last December, we decided to rent a car, as it definitely gives more opportunities to explore the island than the shuttle. Note that some rental places allow driving on paved road only, and others allow unpaved driving. In my opinion, for a…

Which Lana’i trip?
My husband and I are visiting Maui for our honeymoon in June and I would like to schedule a snorkeling tour. I have read many Reddit and TripAdvisor posts and from those posts it looks like Lana’i is more preferred to Molokini (although opinions welcome!) and Trilogy is a good…

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Polihua Beach is lauded as a breathtaking, secluded paradise, but reaching it requires navigating a notoriously rough 4WD-only road. Visitors rave about the untouched beauty and solitude, making the challenging journey well worth the effort for many. However, swimming can be dangerous due to strong currents, and the lack of facilities means thorough preparation is essential.
"One of the nicest beaches i have been to, probably because the dirt road is so washed out and horrible, not many people venture this far past the garden of the gods. The last half mile or so is the worst. 4wd is a must, and even some companies forbid going this far, but it was worth it for the quiet expanse of this beach and views of molokai and maui."

"An absolute hidden gem….you can ONLY get here by off roads which require specific vehicles. But…yes, the drive is rough and not for the weak. If you’re able to withstand it, (we did it in a jeep and I was perfectly fine) then you’ll reach one of the most secluded, beautiful beaches on earth."

"Rough road getting there. Gets significantly rough as we got down. Please only go in a 4wd vehicle and only when it’s dry out. We chickened out on the drive w/ a mile left and walked the rest of the way. That said, beautiful beach with no one around. Nice long walk along the beach and uphill hike back to the car. Stop at garden of the gods on the way to feel like we were on mars. The drive is half the fun! Don’t try to swim."
