"Wonderful experience! The workers were friendly. It is a casual place - can walk around at your own pace. We spent quite a bit of time watching the lumber mill. It was fascinating, and educational. Ride the train! You will have no regrets. The ticket is a souvenir. The old time soda shop is so cute! Definitely a great way to spend an afternoon."

"This was our first time at Hesstons which was a Halloween themed train ride weekend. We took our 3.5 year old son here with his great grandparents. The grandparents joined us on the large steam train that had regular bench seats with back support, we all fit on one bench (4 adults, one child) which was awesome. The volunteers were all very knowledgeable & friendly. Many of the volunteers acknowledged my grandfather's veteran experience (wearing a Vietnam vet hat) & thanked him, which meant a lot to him. We all enjoyed our time here I highly recommend inviting your grandparents to come with as they enjoyed watching us & being able to participate on what Hesston's has to offer. My grandfather was knowledgeable on many of old steam engine equipment they had to display as well which I know he enjoyed telling us about.
We rode all 3 trains they had a available, they were all fun but the small train where we had to straddle the seat was the most fun for our 3.5 year old son. 😊"

"A fantastic day out. Took 3 small children under 7 and they all had a great time. Be aware under 1s cannot ride the best ride which is the mini train because you're straddling the seat. There is an ice cream parlor and Cafe on site which has hotdogs for $9 and ice cream for around $5. Everything's served with loads of fries!
We had a recommendation to book train tickets in advance but this didn't seem necessary on the September day we were there. Apart from the trains, which were worth the money for our train enthusiast kids, there is a blacksmith and some old equipment around in the fields. I wouldn't recommend making a long journey unless you intend to ride all the trains as the museum's other attractions are limited."
