What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Keopuolani Park is a vast, well-loved community space offering something for everyone, from a fantastic playground to sports fields and walking trails. While many appreciate its size and amenities, some visitors have noted issues with restroom maintenance and litter in certain areas. Overall, it's a valuable resource for recreation and community events on Maui.
"My spouse and I have started a walking regimen because we're not getting any younger or thinner!
THE PARK:
It's Maui's largest at 110 acres, bordered by Kaahumanu & Kanaloa Avenues, Kahului Beach Road & Wahinepio Street. There are several ball & soccer fields, a playground, jogging trails, covered picnic pavilions, dog park, restrooms and tons of well-maintained grassy areas. Parking is free via several lots located within the park.
JOGGING PATHS:
They're not very challenging in terms of slopes but are great for distance.
BEWARE:
A part of the jogging trail that runs behind the Maui Botanical Gardens is a little shady due to thick brush on either side. I noticed a homeless dwelling and learned of an unprovoked attack by a female vagrant a few months back. Other than that, the majority of the jogging trails are safe, with moderate hills and benches along the way.
FACT:
Some folks are known to cruise in the park and listen to music coming from the MACC (Maui Arts & Cultural Center) which is right next door. Now that's cheap seating not even I would do, LOL.
OVERALL:
Lots of open space, nice ocean views from some areas, free concert spot if you can use your imagination."

"A very large park with nice paths to walk on. Taking off some stars because of the two restrooms we went to. Both of them were out of order, and there was a good amount of trash all around the path."

"Huge park! There are many things to do here. Lots of walking trails, a dog park, pavilions, multiple sports fields, bathrooms, an awesome kids playground, lots of remote areas to relax or picnic. Great place for dogs on leash too. There is a parallel parking practice area set up for those learning to drive, and many of them practice on the park roads as well. This is a great community park and there is often multiple games, reunions, parties happening throughout the week and especially Saturday & Sunday."
