What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally find the riverboat cruise at Turning Basin Park to be a pleasant and informative experience, with guides often praised for their knowledge. While some note that wildlife sightings can be unpredictable and waters murky after rain, the ease of access and relaxing nature of the tour are frequently highlighted. For those seeking a more adventurous outing, canoe rentals offer an alternative way to explore the bayou.
"My husband and I took the riverboat cruise and we really enjoyed it. The operator was very nice and informative. We took our tour just before the alligators usually arrive, but, we did see a teeny, tiny, little guy that kept diving into the muddy waters. BTW -- the waters are murky right now after all the rain we just had. However, it is my understanding that the river will clear up in a few weeks time."

"Great boat ride! Very relaxing and serene! We went with the group of 10 - kids and adults. Had the boat to ourselves. Everyone loved it! Highly recommend!"

"I won’t badmouth John Nance because he’s a legend at what he does. He knows the bayou and everybody knows him.
But this is no tour. This is a boring 30 minute boat ride up and back down the ugliest brown channel you’ve ever seen (my pix make it look good, but it’s not).
And during the boat ride, you get an education from John about all the cool things you will never see on the tour, plus a good dose of his jokes and questionable views on many topics. No alligators, no nutria, no snakes, no amazing birds, nothing interesting.
After the dull tour, we learned that you can rent a canoe and go up the bayou in a different direction. Maybe we’ll try that next time."
