What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the unique, magical atmosphere of Caddo Lake, often calling it one of Texas's most beautiful and otherworldly places. The affordable canoe rentals and stunning cypress scenery are major highlights. However, some find the land trails limited and note that larger boats can disrupt the tranquility on the water during peak times.
"This was easily one of my favorite camping experiences in Texas. The towering trees create a magical atmosphere, and the canoe rentals are both affordable and absolutely worth it. Paddling through the wetlands was breathtaking. The rare beauty of this landscape is something you feel the moment you’re immersed in it. P.S. Sadly, no crocodiles spotted during our weekend adventure!"

"This park was so nice and so unique. They had a great shop and exhibits. It was clean, beautiful, and all the rangers were so friendly and helpful. We rented a canoe and we're out on the water for around 3 hours. Although the morning was a wonderful peaceful time on the water as it grew closer to noon boats and ski jets were in an overabundance on the water. Some where very polite slowing when passing canoers but most have zero consideration or concern for smaller watercraft. We would still visit again and maybe just get out on the water earlier. We did the trails and all those short they were very nice well kept and pleasant to hike. Nothing extreme and fairly short it was nice after a morning on the lake."

"The park is smaller than expected. But the scene is really beautiful!
There are 2 short hiking trials to the forest and 2 parking lots with lake observatory decks - one to the pond with trees and lily pads in the water; the other to the river.
The canoe rental is strongly recommended (but you need a group of at least 2 adults so that you can lift the boat to water). The rental cost is low (much lower than kayak rental in DFW area). Padding in the pond and the river and enjoy the view!"
