What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Travelers find the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge pedestrian crossing to be safe, accessible, and efficient, with helpful border agents and comfortable amenities like shade and fans. While weekend traffic can be heavy, the lines generally move well. Some advise caution when lingering in downtown Reynosa.
"I was a pedestrian walking back from Reynosa..
I’m giving it five stars because I had no issues whatsoever and the great thing is that there’s shade all the way and there was no line whatsoever. It was Sunday around 5:30 PM coming back to the USA. If you happen to be in a line under the shade, they have water fountains and even fans on top so I say it’s pretty good."
Claudia Suarez (Claude)
"Very accessible and safe crossing in my experience over the last 12 months with multiple crossings through pedestrian bridge. 🇲🇽 🚶🇺🇸"
Emilio D. Villarreal
"At this moment, in June 2025, things are relatively calm. I crossed on a Sunday and found very little traffic. Everything flower smoothly. No issues either going south into Mexico or north back into the USA.
I parked on the USA side and walked across. One dollar in coins to cross south. The sidewalk is covered. Once you get to customs, place any bags on the scanner belt. I coordinated with a friend who was waiting for me. I would not recommend hanging out in downtown Reynosa unnecessarily.
On the return walk back, use the raised pedestrian bridge over the vehicle customs area, pay the 30 cents US toll and walk back. Half way across the bridge, present your documents to the officials before proceeding to immigration and customs.
Once in the building, wait your turn, present your documents, smile for the camera (facial recognition), answer their questions, and obey instructions. Very easy. There is also a scanner for bags, and be ready for secondary bag inspections if you have a bag.
I found agents on both sides of the border to be efficient and kind."
