What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Housatonic River Walk to be a short but beautiful and peaceful trail, offering lovely river views and a glimpse of local history. While the northern section is more natural, the southern part is paved and accessible, making it enjoyable for most. It's a delightful addition to exploring Great Barrington's charming downtown.
"It's an extremely short but beautiful trail (at least the northern part).
In general it's a river promenade connecting Main St near St. Peter's Church and Bridge St. It's not a complete trail as the middle part goes on River St.
The northern part is a few feet lower than street level and has compact soil which gives it a natural feeling. Since it is connected to the street level by stairs it is not accessible for wheelchairs/strollers.
The southern part is street level and mostly paved.
Both parts have some plaques and viewing points to the river."
