"Even though much of San Gabriel Park is currently temporarily closed due to July 4th flooding, we still had a great time at the skate park and splash pad today!
The skate park was very kid-friendly—the kids had a blast riding their scooters and bikes around with plenty of room to play safely. With the summer heat beating down, we made our way over to the splash pad, which was a perfect way to cool off. The splash pad itself is simple but fun, with water fountains shooting up from the ground at different heights to keep the kids giggling.
One downside: there are no covered tables at the splash pad, so on a super hot day like today, shade was hard to come by. That said, the surrounding area was sunny and beautiful, and the kids didn’t seem to mind the heat as much as we parents did!
A big plus is the bathrooms, which are located right in the center of the splash pad and skate park—so convenient for parents with little ones. They were well-maintained and had plenty of stalls, which made our visit much easier.
There are walking trails, dog friendly fields with doggy bag and waste locations throughout.
Overall, San Gabriel Park is a great spot for families, even with some closures. We’ll definitely be returning for more fun once the weather cools down a bit and the whole park has been restored."
