What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Garey Park's extensive amenities for families, particularly the Play Ranch with its splash pad and zip lines. The beautiful, shaded trails and river access are also highly praised for their natural beauty and tranquility. Some minor drawbacks include seasonal hour changes and the potential for rocky trails, but overall, it's considered a well-maintained gem for outdoor recreation.
"We went here on the weekend with som family and the kids had a lot of fun playing everywhere. My youngest loved the splash pad area. Middle child loved the Zipline area and the playground. All in all it was a cool park. Only downside was we couldn't BBQ but that was their fault we're just in a no burn ban right now."
Lori
"The trail itself is very beautiful and quiet. Lots of different shaded trails if you want to stay off the main one and out of the sun. The naturalist area was really unique and welcoming."
Alex Eastman
"Finally visited this lovely park! The park closes at 6 P.M. in the winter so we only had about an hour or so to explore.
At the park entrance, we paid the day-use fee of $2 per adult ($2 for Georgetown residents over 12 years old; $4 for nonresidents). The park ranger asked for our street address and zip code to confirm Georgetown residence.
We walked the meadow trail which starts at the parking across the Garey House, and has access to the river. Very peaceful all around, there’s even a birdwatching blind along the trail.
Garey House looks beautiful from the outside and I believe it can be booked for events. The lake by the house is pretty and we saw people fishing in there (please visit the website for details, I’m guessing some sort of fishing permit must be required). On our way out we saw a coyote from our car, very cool to see it but of course be cautious when walking with your dogs!
We’ll be visiting more frequently for sure before the summer heat sets in."
